Drums please.....

Things here have finally settled down a bit...Mr. Tantrum is still understandably upset and irritated with me, and he will be for a long time, but we are working things out nicely and have come to agreements on just about everything. I am feeling better too. The stress of that part being gone seems to have lifted 2,000 pounds off of my heart and shoulders and the act of breathing alone is easier.

I went to the doctor today for the follow up on the food allergy results and found out the main problems are; wheat, gluten, rye, spelt, whole wheat, cranberries, cheeses, casein, whey, and all dairy that comes from a cow.

Thankfully my body had zero reaction to coffee, red meat or alcohol. I think that may mean I will have gout in 6 months though if I am not careful.

The plan is to cut them out for 6-9 weeks and then "challenge" or reintroduce them - one at a time - to see how I feel, and if I really feel like I am missing something without them at that point.

Will it suck? Certainly! The thought of going to that work event tomorrow and not being able to eat some of the world's best pizza is horrifying, but not nearly as horrifying as getting another migraine, or feeling like vomiting for days on end for no reason. Beside, there are so many gluten and dairy free foods now it is like a veritable wonderland of new things to try, and fresh cooking that I can actually do for myself! I am so excited. (Plus, think of all the calories I am going to save by not eating "empty" carbs! I'll be a size -1 in no time!)

I am off to research all of the options for snacks and cooking. I am off to label prep and more. I am ready for the change. I am ready to feel better, and am ready to do whatever it takes to feel that way for good.

My sympathies that you have to go without cheese and frozen custard, but how great is it that you know what causes your migraines!

I can prevent most of my headaches (they are not bad enough to be called migraines) by staying hydrated and rested (and, in theory, fed, but honestly, missing meals? so not my problem), but there is not much I can do about weather changes or driving two hours in the sun. I already have expensive sunglasses.

Can you eat goat and sheeps-mik cheeses? I'm not sure because you said it was cow dairy and cheese. Even if not, AT LEAST YOU STILL HAVE CHOCOLATE!!!

Me and my kids all have to live without dairy and I have to eat only small amounts of wheat so I understand how that feels.
But don't worry its still a life.
Oh and goats milk is a good substitute if you drink your coffee with milk and goats milk yoghurt is creamy without the kind of fat that goes straight to your hips!!! You may have to try a few suppliers to find one that suits your taste buds but don't give up, because unlike cows whose milk tastes the same no matter what they eat, a goat could eat a rosemary bush and produce rosemary flavoured milk for two days after, lol.

That's going to be a long couple of dieting months! Glad you're enthusiastic. Hope like heck you can get control of your crazy health... and we're all trying desperately not to pry into your relationship with Mr Tantrum. Are you really ok?

Hey Missy-

My sister is vegan and finds the best alternatives. I'm sure she can turn you on to some great things!

We MUST get together soon!
