Can't Sleep

I can't seem to sleep lately.

Last night I dreamt that I was trying to fall asleep in my bed. That was probably the freakiest dream ever and meant that I woke up confused and exhausted.

I drank a boatload of water, ate some cereal and drank some coffee and chugged through the day.

Tonight I was CERTAIN that I would fall asleep in an instant...but here it is 11:30 pm and I have to be up at 5am and am still wide awake.

I guess I will be mainlining coffee all day tomorrow, you know just so that I can kind of sort of appear coherent to my clients on the phone.

Or maybe I should just go back to eating junk food and feeling tired all of the time...just to get a little tiny bit of sleep at night.

Oh boy, I hope you can sleep soon! I too have had those weird dreams where you're lying in your bed trying to sleep, in this addled haze of 5% consciousness, completely unable to move, but never sure if that's in the dream or in real life. Hate those dreams. You wake up a bit panicked.

You and me both. Insomnia sucks. Melatonin helps, but just enough.

I suffered a 2-month bout of insomnia over the summer while I looked for work. Melatonin (to make you sleepy) and valerian root (to calm your mind so you can get to/stay asleep) washed down with Sleepy Time tea worked relatively well (the herbal route seemed to work better for me than the OTC or prescription sleep aids).

That sucks. There must be something that will knock you out - my Mum swears by David Attenborough wildlife documentaries on TV. Snore.
